Undyed cotton with one ochre line down the weft. Nine days on the loom, and better after twenty washes — the piece that made people understand the work is meant to be used.
The story
About the work.
KCrafty began with a secondhand table loom bought for forty dollars and a conviction that most textiles in a home should be worth touching.
Everything is woven in a small Hamtramck studio in natural cotton, linen, and undyed wool, with ochre and rust drawn in for warmth. Nothing is made precious.
The pieces are designed with a long life in mind: tea towels that get better after twenty washes, napkins that soften, blankets meant to be repaired rather than replaced.
A good cloth is not the one you keep in a drawer. It's the one that's already worn thin.
