Signature piece
Yellow-throated warbler, third morning
Three mornings on one bird: the drawing, the wash, and the small decisions that make it look about to move. It is the piece that explains why the work is slow on purpose.

The story
About the work.
BirdArt started as a way to stay awake gently. A field guide, a small pan of earth-tone paints, and whatever landed on the feeder outside the kitchen window in Ferndale.
The work is deliberately unhurried. A single warbler can take three mornings — one for the drawing, one for the wash, one for the small decisions that make a bird look like it is about to move.
What people respond to isn't the accuracy. It's the patience. Guests who spend two hours painting one bird tend to leave noticing far more of them.
You cannot rush a bird onto paper. You can only sit still long enough to see one.
